Casa U'undu is a private beachfront holiday house on the Pacific coast of Oaxaca, Mexico, at
Ventanilla in the municipality of Santa Maria Colotepec, about 25 minutes by car from Puerto
Escondido and its international airport (PXM). It is rented only as a whole house, for families,
groups of friends and small wellness retreats, and is marketed by Villa Experience
(villaexperience.com), a staffed-villa rental company operating in Mexico since 2006.
"U'undu" means gratitude.

## Frequently asked questions
Q: Is the whole house exclusive to my group?
A: Yes. Casa U'undu is only ever let as a whole house. There are no other guests and no shared areas.

Q: Is the cook really included?
A: Yes — a cook is in the kitchen every day of your stay, breakfast through dinner, included in the nightly rate. You pay for the groceries only. Tell us in advance about allergies, children's tastes or a dinner you want to make a occasion of.

Q: Who else will be at the house?
A: Abigail, your concierge, plus the cook, daily housekeeping and a house assistant. They are on site from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and the house is yours alone outside those hours.

Q: Is it good for children?
A: Yes — families stay here often, and there is a room with four single beds, table tennis and two pools. Do note that the pools are not fenced and the house has open edges and level changes, so small children need an adult's eye on them.

Q: Can we swim at the beach?
A: The beach is beautiful and almost always empty, and it is a strong Pacific shore break rather than a calm bay — wonderful for walking, watching the surf and running into the shallows, but swimming happens in the two pools. Abigail can arrange a surf guide, or a trip to the calmer bays around Puerto Escondido.

Q: Is there air conditioning?
A: No, and by design. The house is built as a set of brick vaults that lift the warm air out and hold the cool of the night well into the afternoon, with ceiling fans in every bedroom and the Pacific breeze crossing from the garden to the beach side. Guests stay comfortable through the hot months.

Q: Is there hot water?
A: There are no water heaters. The pipes run in the sun, so the water arrives warm rather than hot — which is what you want in this climate — and it is part of how lightly the house sits on a stretch of coast with no mains infrastructure.

Q: How many people can stay?
A: Eleven, across three bedrooms. The rate covers eight; each additional guest is US$100 per night.

Q: How do we get there?
A: Fly into Puerto Escondido (PXM) — direct from Mexico City and Oaxaca City, and seasonally from other hubs. The house is roughly 25 minutes from the airport and we can have a driver meet your flight.

Q: What is the minimum stay?
A: Three nights in low season, four in high season, and seven nights over Easter, Christmas and New Year.

Q: What does U'undu mean?
A: Gratitude. The owners named the house for the feeling they wanted it to hold.
